As owners and operators of four wildly popular eateries in Santa Monica–Huckleberry Cafe & Bakery, Rustic Canyon, Sweet Rose Creamery, and Milo and Olive–Zoe Nathan and her business partner and husband, Josh Loeb, have built an empire. Their restaurants boast warm and welcoming environments and their chefs take pride in sourcing the finest seasonal and local ingredients. In 2010, StarChefs named the pair “Los Angeles Rising Stars.”
While Zoe is best known for the baked goods and pastries she creates for their restaurants, her beginnings were actually in the savory kitchen. She honed her skills at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, and gained experience at San Francisco’s famous Tartine Bakery. At Huckleberry, Zoe runs the show and is constantly creating new and seasonal dishes that showcase both her pastry and savory skills. The book catalogs 115 recipes, all presented in the order in which they are baked at Huckleberry.
