Irene Li is a chef and co-owner of Mei Mei The restaurant specializes
in creative Chinese-American cuisine driven by locally, ethically, and sustainably
sourced ingredients. In 2015, Irene was nominated for "Rising Star Chef of the Year" by the James Beard Foundation.
Mei Mei began as a passion project of three siblings who love food and cooking. They built a
menu inspired by their Chinese-American heritage. Mei Mei began as a
food truck in 2012, fueled by an online crowd funding campaign. It was awarded Boston's Best Meal on Wheels. The restaurant opened the
following year, and was recently named Eater Boston's Restaurant of the Year
and made Boston Magazine's list of 50 Best Restaurants.
